I don't feel the pressure, lol. Before the DVD, what was the original optical movie player called?

VHS and VCR are both wrong. The key word is optical. Give you another hint, what I'm talking about is the same size as a record.

Woohoo! Razz

On which 2 days is it 12 hours light and 12 hours dark a day, everywhere in the world? Exact dates would be nice, but approximates are accepted Wink

If no one knows the answer within oh...a day or so, I can give the answer. But like I said, as I dont need the exact dates, you can fairly easily reason when it should be. Its 2 times in a year. 12 hours light and 12 hours dark...when is the shortest day and when is the longest?....so when would be the days that day and night are equally long....?

Remember, I dont need the exact dates, just an approximation.

Ill give one more day, with this hint:

2 times a year, in between the shortest and longest day when the days are getting longer and in between when they are getting shorter. Come on, I know someone should be able to crack it with this hint/guide

Cool. Next question:

What is the largest known organism alive today? You can actually answer this a number of ways since large can mean mass, height, volume or area. I only need one of those. There is some leeway in this as well since not everyone seems to agree (as usual). Anyway, gimme some answers Wink

A giant sequoia tree They grow to an average height of 70 – 85 m (230 – 280 ft) and 5 – 7 m (16 – 23 ft) in diameter. Specimens have been recorded to be up to 94.9 m (307 ft) in height and (not the same individual) 8.98 m (29 ft) in diameter; the largest individual is the General Sherman tree, with a volume of 1,489 m3.[55] Although not so large in volume, the closely related Coast Redwood (Sequoia sempervirens) is taller, reaching a maximum height of 115.55 m (379.1 ft)[56]. These trees dwarf any other non-communal organism, as even the largest Blue Whales are likely to weigh one-sixteenth as much as a large Giant Sequoia or Coast Redwood. See record trees for other tree records.

Re: Trivia Game

Post  Bastiaan on Sun Oct 11, 2009 12:18 pm

Im actually not sure what your answer is. The Giant Sequoia is not the tallest organism, nor is it the heaviest or does it have the highest volume. As a single stem tree, it does have the highest volume and mass, but the Coastal Redwood (as it says in your wiki bit) is taller

Since you did find the Coastal Redwood Im gonna give this an ok

Btw, those sequoias are really cool, they also have a special mechanism to get water up that high, which is very cool. The coolest trees though, imo, are the ones that have been around since the last ice age. Yes, thats the same individual tree that seemed to have lived back then too. Climate change now? Think of the change that single tree went through and survived...

Anyway, next question, Dante
